STANDING RULES
Of the
Central Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association
(Hereinafter referred to as the Association, Central Zone or CA5)
Modified: September 17, 2006
The Standing Rules of the Central Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association define the activities of the Association and how those activities are administered and run. The following sections describe the procedures and rules which govern the Association’s activities.
Tournaments - General Information
1.1 The Central Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association is affiliated with the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association (A5), which is affiliated with the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association (C5).
1.2 The provincial and national championship banners that are acquired by a CA5 unit (contingent, team, or member) shall be distributed to each member of the unit for a one (1) year period. Each unit member shall display the banner in their bowling center. The banner shall not stay in one bowling center for more than one (1) year, regardless of the number of members in the unit. The final location of the banner shall be the bowling center with the most members in the unit.
1.3 98/06/07 – The Alberta Championship host bowling center shall display all available Provincial and National banners, earned by Central Zone participants, for the duration of the provincial championship.
1.4 98/06/07 - A local 5 Pin Bowlers’ Association (5PBA) is a "Member-in-Good-Standing" when it has paid all monies due the Central Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association or its affiliates.
1.5 92-06-14 - The CA5 representatives to the Alberta 5PBA board, for the next fiscal year, shall be appointed at the CA5's Annual General Meeting.
1.6 00/12/10 – The CA5 shall advise the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission of the names, addresses and telephone numbers of the CA5 Executive members whenever a change in Executive members occurs.
2.1 The term of office for all Executive Officers shall commence either:
2.1.1 At the beginning of the next fiscal year following the election, if the date of the election is before the start of a new fiscal year, or,
2.1.2 At the adjournment of the meeting in which the executive officers were elected, if the date of the election is after the start of a new fiscal year.
3.1 The CA5 meetings shall be held at alternating sites within the Central Zone. The actual location of the next meeting shall be selected prior to the conclusion of the current meeting.
4.1 The CA5 shall pay the Zone Assessment Fee levied by the Alberta 5PBA.
4.2 98/06/07 - The CA5 may receive a rebate from the A5PBA for every C5PBA membership sold within the Central Zone, as recorded by the A5PBA. The CA5 may reimburse a portion of this rebate to each local 5PBA that is a member-in-good-standing, based upon the number of Canadian 5PBA memberships sold by the local 5PBA. The amount of reimbursement for each membership is determined annually at a CA5 meeting. The total amount of reimbursement to the local 5PBA shall be determined by multiplying the reimbursement amount by the number of memberships sold by the local 5PBA.
4.3 The CA5 shall provide the following items to each member of the CA5's Youth Challenge and Open provincial contingents. See the Canadian 5PBA tournament rules for a definition of the composition of these contingents.
4.3.1 06/09/17 A bowling shirt, in appropriate zone colors, as approved by the provincial body
4.3.2 Other expenses, such as travel, meals, accommodation, etc., are determined at a CA5 meeting.
4.4 The CA5 shall pay fifty percent (50%) of the cost of an Alberta 5PBA blazer for its two (2) voting delegates to the Alberta 5PBA board meetings, provided blazers are required by the Alberta 5PBA.
4.5 The CA5 shall reimburse the CA5's Alberta 5PBA delegates for their accommodation, meal, and fuel expenses (receipts required), not paid by the Alberta 5PBA, which are incurred while performing the duties of an Alberta 5PBA board member.
4.6 98/06/07 - The CA5 shall hold annual fund raising events to provide funds to assist in the payment of CA5 expenses.
4.7 Bills or receipts are required in order for the CA5 to pay expenses.
4.8 06/09/17 if the CA5 is dissolved, any assets remaining after paying debts and liabilities shall be disbursed to eligible charities that will be decided at that time. (Per AGLC rules and regulations)
4.9 The CA5 shall reimburse the CA5 contingent managers for expenses incurred while performing the duties of their post. The amount of reimbursement shall be determined annually, at a Board meeting.
4.10 The CA5 may distribute equally all monies collected at each Zone Championship, less Zone and Provincial Championship authorized expenses, to the manager and the provincial contingent to assist them in attending the Provincial Championship.
4.11 An Open Championship Contingency Fund has been established to provide financial assistance to the CA5's Open contingent advancing to the Provincial Open Championships for such things as extraordinary transportation expenses, or new bowling shirts. The contribution amount is determined annually at a CA5 meeting and is collected as part of the entry fee.

4.12 99/06/06 - The CA5 will charge a Local Assessment Fee to each local 5PBA, or where there is no local 5PBA, the bowling center proprietor, based upon the number of C5 memberships sold by the local 5PBA during the previous bowling season. The Local Assessment Fee is determined annually at the first fall meeting of the CA5 Board. Failure to pay the Local Assessment Fee will result in the local 5PBA, or bowling center, forfeiting their opportunity to host a CA5 event.
4.13 A bowling shirt, in appropriate zone colors, with the contingent member's first name on the front of the shirt, the member's last name and Zone Identification on the rear of the shirt.
5.1 The procedure to suspend a CA5 member is defined below.
5.1.1 A motion is tabled at a regular meeting of the CA5 stating who is being suspending, why the suspension is being made, stating the number of the bylaw or rule that has been broken, and the proposed penalty.
5.1.2 The member is notified, by registered mail, of the suspension motion and of the member's right to appeal the suspension at the next regular meeting of the CA5.
5.1.3 The tabled motion is acted upon at the next regular meeting of the CA5.
5.1.4 The member is notified, by registered mail, of the decision reached regarding the motion.
5.2 The local 5PBA and the local proprietor shall be notified of any suspension of a bowler by any bowling association.
6.1 96/06/09 - All Central Alberta Five Pin Bowlers Association (CA5) championships shall be held in a member bowling center located within the Central Zone. A member bowling center shall be defined as a bowling center which actively sells C5 membership cards during the current season.
6.2 2002-08-18 – All CA5 Championships shall be rotated to all bowling centers within the Central Zone, subject to these Standing Rules. A host site rotation list shall be established for each CA5 Championship.
6.3 06/09/17 A centre wishing to join a rotation list will go the bottom of the list as defined as the time application is made.
6.4 A specific bowling center shall host only one (1) CA5 championship in a bowling season.
6.5 92-06-14 - A host Bowling Center must have certified lanes, as certified by the provincial lane certification organization.
6.6 91-06-16 - A local Five Pin Bowlers Association (5PBA) must make a written application to the CA5 in order to be added to a CA5 championship host site rotation list.
6.7 94-06-05 - Any of the bowling centers in Central Zone, who are not selling 5 Pin memberships, are removed from the rotation list, based on adequate membership sales in the previous year. The CA5 Board shall determine what the term “adequate” means.
6.8 92/06/14 - A Host Committee shall be established for each CA5 championship. The Host Committee shall be comprised of representatives from the local 5PBA, which is a Member-in-Good-Standing of the CA5, and the bowling center designated to host the tournament.
6.8.1 92-06-14 - The Host Committee must attend the following meetings in order to report the status of their assigned tournament or to receive information from the previous year's Host Committee:
6.8.2 The first meeting following the previous year's tournament to learn how the previous year's tournament was run.
6.8.3 The first fall meeting of the year to report the status of the host committee's activities for their assigned tournament and to present an agenda and budget for their assigned tournament.
6.8.4 The first meeting following their assigned tournament to report how the tournament was run, to report on any activity that affected how the tournament was run, and to make any recommendations that may improve the next tournament.
6.8.5 Failure to attend any of these meetings may result in the local 5PBA association being removed from the hosting rotation for the tournament. Once removed, the local 5PBA must apply to be reinstated to the hosting rotation for the tournament. Please see new rule 1.28 below.
6.9 In the event that a Host Committee is unable, or unwilling, to host a CA5 tournament, the tournament will be offered to the next Host Committee in the tournament's rotation, subject to these rules.
6.10 The Host Committee, for each CA5 tournament, shall present the tournament's format and budget to the first fall meeting of the CA5 for approval. Any unbudgeted and unapproved expenses shall require the prior approval of the CA5 executive before being implemented. Information in the report should include the Host Committee Chairperson, proposed dates for the event, hotel accommodations (if required), special events, etc.
6.11 98/06/07 – A manager shall be elected, during the first fall meeting, for each CA5 contingent participating at an Alberta Championship. If a manager is not elected at this meeting, then the Executive shall recruit and appoint a suitable manager for the contingent.
6.12 92-06-14 - The manager of a CA5 contingent shall be responsible for:
6.12.1 Attending all Provincial Championship tournament meetings called by the provincial tournament’s Host Committee.
6.12.2 Convening a meeting, as soon as possible after the posting of the tournament's final results, in order to:
6.12.3 Coordinate the selection of the contingent coaches, if required.
6.12.4 Coordinate the sizing and delivery of participants' bowling shirts, if required.
6.12.5 Disseminate all pertinent provincial championship information to the participants.
6.12.6 Schedule contingent practice times, if required.
6.12.7 Reserving accommodations, transportation, and contingent practice lanes, if required.
6.12.8 Reporting the status of their CA5 contingent to each CA5 board meeting held prior to the provincial championship. A final (written) report shall be presented at the first CA5 meeting following the conclusion of the provincial championship.
6.13 A separate entry form, for each CA5 championship, shall be distributed to all bowling centers as soon as possible after the dates for the CA5 championships are set. The entry form shall include all details for its specific championship, date, place, time, entry qualifications, rules, etc.
6.14 92-06-14 - The Host Committee shall appoint a Certified Judge of Play to act as the Chief Judge of Play for a CA5 tournament. Each Judge of Play shall enforce the Canadian 5PBA and CA5 rules pertaining to the championship.
6.15 The Host Committee shall provide scorekeepers for a CA5 tournament, if automatic scorers are unavailable.
6.16 The CA5 shall not reimburse scorekeepers for working at a CA5 tournament.
6.17 92-06-14 - The Host Committee shall tabulate and post all of the Championship's standings and results, as required. The final results shall be reported to the next CA5 meeting and, subsequently, distributed to all local 5PBA associations and bowling centers.
6.18 Residency Rule: An entrant in a CA5 tournament must reside within the Central Zone of the Alberta 5PBA. Exception, via the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers’ Association, an entrant who lives outside the Zone, but only bowls within the Zone, is eligible to bowl in the Zone's tournaments.
6.19 92-06-14 - Each participant shall pay the CA5 championship entry fee, complete the required CA5 championship entry form, and the Host Committee shall receive the participant's entry fee and completed entry form, by the championship's entry deadline (to guarantee the requested shift time), or prior to the start of the participant's shift (subject to lane availability), before the participant may compete in the CA5 championship.
6.20 A bowler who meets one (1) of the following criteria shall forfeit their entry fee and shall be subject to further disciplinary action (such as suspension), as determined at a CA5 meeting.
6.20.1 Enters a CA5 tournament, fails to attend, and does not notify the Host Committee of their intention not to attend, or
6.20.2 Fails to complete a CA5 tournament without receiving permission from the Host Committee.
6.20.3 2003-09-09 All fund raising by Central Alberta 5 Pin must be actively participated in by provincial qualifying members, including bowlers, coaches and managers. The following conditions will apply,
6.20.4 A required negotiable deposit (cheque or other negotiable funds) must be made to the association.
6.20.5 The deposit must be made by the date of the first scheduled practice.
6.20.6 Failure to comply with this section will result in the disqualification and replacement of the participant.
6.21 The CA5 board will decide on any matters of suspensions or the disposition of entry fees.
6.22 06/09/17 The CA5 uniform for the (Sun Bowl – removed by Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association from the tournament schedule) and Open Championship contingents shall consist of a shirt in the current zone colours and appropriate trim colour and black dress slacks or a black skirt or skort (women only).
6.23 06/09/17 The uniform for the Youth Challenge Zone contingents shall consist of a shirt in the current zone colours and appropriate trim colour, and black dress slacks or a black skirt or skort (women only). The colours for zone 4 and zone 6 shall be of sufficient contrast to allow distinction between the two zones.
6.24 Each CA5 contingent member shall supply their own slacks or skirt (or skort). All teams must be uniformly attired – i.e. Ladies on any team must unanimously choose to wear slacks, skirts or skorts.
6.25 98/06/07 – The CA5 shall supply each Open Championship contingent member with a maximum of one (1) two (2) bowling shirt during a member’s lifetime and a maximum of one (1) year of alterations to existing shirts. The shirt becomes the property of the bowler. Exception: when the style of the Open bowling shirt changes, the CA5 shall supply a veteran contingent member with only one (1) bowling shirt.
6.26 98/06/07 - The CA5 shall supply the Youth Challenge contingent members with a new shirt when one is required for size only. The shirt becomes the property of the bowler.
6.27 2002-08-18 – The CA5 shall determine, annually, to supply a bowling shirt, in current zone colors, to each CA5 qualifier to an A5 Championship.
6.28 98/06/07 - Coaches for the CA5 Open and Youth Challenge Championship contingents shall be selected in the following manner:
6.28.1 The CA5 shall recruit coaches for these championships by advertising, via posters in all Central Zone bowling centers or by personal contact, requesting coaches who meet the minimum coaching certification requirements for an event, to submit their name and, optionally, a resume, to coach a Youth Challenge or Open Championship team.
6.28.2 The name and resume, if available, of each coach applicant shall be posted prior to the commencement of the championship's last shift for perusal by the competitors.
6.28.3 Each team shall select their coach in an established rotation. The team that chose their coach first last year will choose their coach last this year. The team that chose their coach second last year will choose their coach first this year.
6.28.4 If a team selection rotation has not been established, the team selection rotation shall be determined by placing all of the teams' names into a hat and drawing the team names from the hat, one at a time. The first team drawn will select their coach first; the second team drawn will select their coach second, etc.
6.28.5 Each team member shall secretly mark their coach selection ballot with a one (1), two (2) and three (3) indicating their first, second, and third choice for coach, respectively.
6.28.6 A team’s coach shall be the coach that receives the most points based upon each ballot's first coach choice receiving three (3) points, the second coach choice receiving two (2) points, and the third coach choice receiving one (1) point.
6.28.7 The selected coach is then asked to accept or refuse the team's selection. If the selected coach accepts the team's choice, the selected coach's name is removed from the coach selection list and the next team selects their coach. If the selected coach refuses the team's selection, the second place selected coach is asked to accept or refuse the team's selection, etc.
6.29 92-06-14 - A Host Committee, which does not meet the hosting criteria established in these Standing Rules, may be removed from the Championship Hosting Rotation. Removal shall occur only by passing a motion at the CA5 meeting following the championship.
A local 5PBA and a bowling center may be reinstated into the hosting rotation by applying, in writing, to the Central Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association. Reinstatement into the original hosting rotation order shall be accomplished by passing a motion at a CA5 meeting within two (2) years of removal from the rotation. Reinstatement after this time period will result in the local 5PBA/bowling center being reinstated at the bottom of the hosting rotation order.
6.30 2002-08-18 – The CA5 shall purchase all bowling shirts for its Alberta Championship participants from a sports supplier.
6.31 2002-08-18 - The CA5 shall charge an entry fee for each of its championships. The entry fee shall be set at the first fall meeting of the year. It is the bowling center’s responsibility to submit these monies to the Central Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association.
6.32 06/09/17 Bowlers or Teams going to a national championship may be assessed a travel/accommodation fee to offset expenses assessed by the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association

6.33 98/06/07 - The CA5 uniform for the Youth Challenge Zone Four contingent shall consist of a white shirt, with black trim and lettering, and black dress slacks or a black skirt (women only).
6.34 00/12/10 - The CA5 uniform for the Youth Challenge Zone Six contingent shall consist of a white shirt, with royal blue trim and lettering, and black dress slacks or a black skirt (women only).
7.1 The High-Low Doubles Championship is a national event sanctioned by the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association. Please consult the C5 tournament format for eligibility requirements. This is a PINS-OVER-AVERAGE event.
7.2 2002-08-18 - The following rules shall apply if the A5 holds an Alberta Championship for this event
7.2.1 An information sheet shall be supplied to all bowling centers following the first fall meeting. This sheet will include the following information: general championship information, entry fees for the Zone Championship, criteria to advance to the Alberta Championship, amount of travel assistance provided to each Alberta championship participant from Central Zone.
7.2.2 A CA5 entry fee shall be paid by each entrant at the league round.
7.2.3 All participating bowling centers shall run a four (4) game, bowling center round. The complete results of all bowling center rounds shall be forwarded to the Championship manager by the deadline date.
7.2.4 00/09/10 – There will be no actual Central Zone round, however, the Provincial Championship qualifiers will be determined as follows:
7.2.4.1 If the number of bowling centers participating is less than, or equal to, the number of teams allowed to advance to the Provincial Championships, the bowling centre champions shall automatically advance to the Provincial Championships. Any unfilled Provincial Championship qualifier positions will be filled by pooling the remaining results and selecting the remaining Provincial Championship qualifiers based upon the next highest pins-over-average team score.
7.2.4.2 If there are more bowling centers participating than the number of teams allowed to advance to the Provincial Championships, then ALL team scores, from all participating bowling centers, shall be pooled, and the teams with the highest pins-over-average scores shall advance to the Provincial Championships.

8.1 06/09/17 League Executive may be entered into a draw by the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association for a year’s lineage as described by the event administered by the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association.
8.2 2002-08-18 - An information sheet shall be supplied to all bowling centers following the first fall meeting. This sheet will include the following information: general championship information, entry fees for the Zone Championship, criteria for entry into the draw, date for submission to advance to the Alberta Championship, amount of travel assistance provided to each Alberta championship participant from Central Zone.

8.3 2002-08-18 - The following rules shall apply if the A5 holds an Alberta Championship for this event. Please consult the A5 tournament format for eligibility requirements. This is a PINS-OVER-AVERAGE event.
8.4 A CA5 entry fee shall be paid by each entrant at the bowling center round.
8.5 All participating bowling centers shall run a four (4) game, bowling center round. The complete results of all bowling center rounds shall be forwarded to the Championship manager by the deadline date.
8.6 00/09/10 – There will be no actual Central Zone round, however, the Provincial Championship qualifiers will be determined as follows:
8.6.1 If the number of bowling centers participating is less than, or equal to, the number of bowlers allowed to advance to the Provincial Championships, in each division, the bowling centre champion, in each division, shall automatically advance to the Provincial Championships. Any unfilled Provincial Championship qualifier positions will be filled by pooling the remaining results and selecting the remaining Provincial Championship qualifiers based upon the next highest pins-over-average bowler score.
8.6.2 If there are more bowling centers participating than the number of bowlers allowed to advance to the Provincial Championships, in each division, then ALL bowlers scores, from all participating bowling centers, shall be pooled, within each division, and the bowlers with the highest pins-over-average scores shall advance to the Provincial Championships.
9.1 The Open Championships is a national event sanctioned by the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association. The CA5 championships shall follow the Zone format as defined by the C5.
9.2 2002-08-18 - The following rules shall apply if the A5 holds an Alberta Championship for this event.
9.2.1 2002-08-18 - An entry form sheet shall be supplied to all bowling centers following the first fall meeting. This entry form shall include the following information: general championship information, entry fees for the Zone Championship, criteria to advance to the Alberta Championship, amount of travel assistance provided to each Alberta championship participant from Central Zone.
9.3 The following rules shall apply if a Bowling Center Round is required:
9.3.1 A bowler shall compete in the Bowling Center Round of a BPAA member bowling center. If the bowler does not bowl in a BPAA member bowling center, the bowler shall compete in the Bowling Center Round of the closest BPAA member bowling center.
9.3.2 A bowler must compete in the Bowling Center Round of the bowling center in which they regularly bowl in a league. If a bowler bowls in more than one bowling center, the bowler may compete in the Bowling Center Round of either bowling center.
9.3.3 Each bowler may enter in only one bowling center.
9.3.4 The Bowling Center Round shall consist of a sixteen (16) game total scratch pinfall competition.
9.3.5 Each local 5PBA shall be permitted to automatically advance one (1) bowler to the CA5 Open Championship tournament for every two (2) lanes in the local 5PBA. If there are an odd number of lanes in the local 5PBA, then the number of lanes shall be increased by one (1) in order to advance a whole number of bowlers to the CA5 Open Championship tournament.
9.3.6 The scores for the bowlers, who have not automatically advanced to the CA5 Open Championship, shall be forwarded to the CA5 Open Championship Host Committee and placed on a list in descending score order. Any unfilled CA5 Open Championship entry positions shall be filled from the list, starting with the bowler with the highest score in the Bowling Center Round.
9.4 98/06/07 - The CA5 Open Championship shall be held in a bowling center with no less than (8) lanes.
9.5 98/06/07 - The bowling center hosting rotation for the CA5 Open Championship shall be:

9.6 All of the lanes in the host bowling center shall be used in the CA5 Open championship.
9.7 98/08/30 - There shall be a minimum of four (4) competitors assigned to an adjacent pair of lanes with two (2) competitors assigned to one lane and two (2) competitors assigned to the adjacent lane.
9.8 There shall be a maximum of five (5) competitors assigned to a single lane.
9.9 92-06-14 - The Host Committee shall assign competitors to lanes by random draw ensuring that the number of men and women assigned to a single lane is in accordance with the percentage of men and women entered in the Championship.
9.10 The maximum number of competitors allowed in the CA5 Open Championship is determined by multiplying the total number of lanes in the host bowling center by the maximum number of competitors per lane, and multiplying the result by two (2) shifts.
9.11 99/06/06 - The CA5 Open Championship shall consist of a twenty (20) game (minimum), total scratch pinfall competition split into two ten (10) game rounds.
9.12 The second ten (10) game round of the CA5 Open Championship shall be held in one (1) shift.
9.13 99/06/06 - The top sixty (60) bowlers from the men's and women's divisions, after the first ten (10) game round, shall advance to the second ten (10) game round. A minimum of ten (10) men and ten (10) women shall advance to the second ten (10) game round. The actual number of men and women advancing to the second round shall be determined by the Host Committee and the CA5 Executive based upon the percentage of men and women competing in the first round.
9.14 A bowler may withdraw their name from the CA5 Open Championship, without cause, up to twenty-four (24) hours prior to the commencement of the Championship, without penalty, otherwise, refer to General Rule 6.20.
10.1 06/09/17 The UNO CASH tournament is a provincial event sanctioned by the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association. Please consult the A5 tournament format for eligibility requirements. This is a PINS OVER AVERAGE event.
10.2 06/09/17 An information sheet shall be supplied to all bowling centers following the first fall meeting. This sheet will include the following information: general championship information, entry fees for the Zone Championship, criteria for entry into the draw, date for submission to advance to the Alberta Championship, amount of travel assistance provided to each Alberta championship participant from Central Zone.
10.3 06/09/17 The following rules shall apply for this event,
10.3.1 An entry form sheet shall be supplied to all bowling centers following the first fall meeting. This entry form shall include the following information: general championship information, entry fees for the Zone Championship, criteria to advance to the Alberta Championship, amount of travel assistance provided to each Alberta championship participant from Central Zone.
10.3.2 A Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association entry fee shall be paid by each entrant at the league round.
10.3.3 An Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association entry fee of $5.00 per person will be charged at the zone round.
10.3.4 The top ten pins over average average in the men’s and ladies divisions at the zone round will advance to the provincial championships.
11.1 The Youth Challenge Championships is a national event sanctioned by the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association. Please consult the C5 tournament format for eligibility requirements. This is a SCRATCH PINFALL event.
11.2 The following rules shall apply if the A5 holds an Alberta Championship for this event.
11.2.1 2002-08-18 - An entry form shall be supplied to all bowling centers following the first fall meeting. This entry form shall include the following information: general championship information, entry fees for the Zone Championship, criteria to advance to the Alberta Championship, amount of travel assistance provided to each Alberta championship participant from Central Zone.
11.2.2 The CA5 Youth Challenge Championship shall be held in a bowling center with no less than six (6) lanes.
11.2.3 06/09/17 The Youth Challenge Zone Championships will be held in a single centre within the zone with the top finishers being placed on team 1 with the runners up being placed on team 2 for Central Alberta

11.3 Circa 1986. The Leif Jorgensen Memorial Trophy shall be awarded to the bowler with the highest total pinfall at the Zone Six Championships. The recipient shall receive an individual trophy. The annual trophy shall be engraved with the name of the winner. The annual trophy shall be displayed in the winner's bowling center until the next Zone Six Championships.
11.4 99/8/29 – Ron and Joyce McVee donated a trophy to be awarded to the bowler with the highest pinfall at the Zone Four Championships. The trophy shall be engraved with the name of the winner and shall be displayed in the winner's bowling center until the next Zone Four Championships.
11.5 03/09/09 Youth Challenge participants (including coaches and managers) going to provincials shall,
11.5.1 Each receives the number of raffle tickets deemed appropriate by the CA5.
11.5.2 That a cheque made out to “Central 5 Pin Bowlers’ Association” (or other negotiable form) for the full amount of tickets be received by the coach or manager no later than the time of the first scheduled practice.
11.5.3 The cheque (or other negotiable form) will be returned when the required raffle tickets and full payment is made to CA5.
11.5.4 Failure to meet the conditions (items a to c above) will result in immediate disqualification and replacement for the event.
Currently Overridden by more recent change(s), could be returned at a later point in time.
11.6 00/09/10 – The Youth Challenge Zone 4 and Zone 6 Championships shall be run simultaneously at the same location, as determined at the first fall meeting. This rule supersedes the host rotation lists.
11.7 The host site for the combined Zone 4 and 6 Championships shall be held at a Zone 4 bowling center in even numbered years and at a Zone 6 bowling center in odd numbered years. Past championships were held at Red Deer Bowladrome (1999), Western Lanes, Wetaskiwin (2000), Railside Bowl, Sylvan Lake (2001).

12.1 No rules are currently defined or have been approved for this event.
12.2 The following is the current information as contained on the entry forms.
12.2.1 The Central Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association shall advance two (2) teams to the Alberta Championships, based on pooled pins over average results of all bowling centres in the zone. Alberta will advance two (2) teams to the Inter Provincial Finals, in Winnipeg.
12.2.2 The rules of the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association shall apply.
12.2.3 Entry is open to any person who:
12.2.3.1 is a member of the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association;
12.2.3.2 is, nineteen (19) years of age, or older, at December 31, 2006
12.2.3.3 resides within the Central Zone of the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association. Proof of age, residency and membership is required at the Alberta Championships.
12.2.4 Teams must be made up of two (2) ladies and two (2) men who may bowl in any league within a single bowling centre.
12.2.5 A bowler may enter on more than one team, but may only advance to the Alberta Championship on one team. For each team, please provide each team member’s name, signature indicating the bowler shall abide by the rules of the event, Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association membership number, shirt size and telephone number on the bottom of this form or on a separate sheet in the format shown at the bottom of this form.
12.2.6 The championship will involve either the first six games bowled in league play between January 29th and February 18th. , or a house round of six games.
12.2.7 Pre-bowls are not permitted.
12.2.8 Your highest league average at January 29th, 2007, shall be used (minimum of twelve (12) games bowled). Average verification is required at the Provincial Championships.
12.2.9 Each entrant must complete a signed entry form.
12.2.10 The entry fee of $28.00 per team ($7.00 per bowler), excluding lineage and membership, shall be collected from each team by the bowling center.
12.2.11 The Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers’ Association Dress Code will apply at the Alberta Championships. It states that each entrant may wear
12.2.12 a loaned zone shirt (to be returned after the tournament)
12.2.13 slacks or skirt; with straight, hemmed bottom and solid colour, no fluorescent colours, denim, track or sweat pants
12.2.14 No hats or caps (exceptions for medical or religious reasons)
12.2.15 Flagrant disregard for the Dress Code shall result in the entrant being asked to adhere to the Dress Code or pay a $100 fine to bowl in the disallowed clothing.
12.2.16 Any registered entrant who fails to bowl, or complete the Championships, without notifying the tournament chairperson, is subject to being suspended from next year’s Championships.
12.2.17 The Championships may be a non-smoking event, as determined by city ordinance or by a majority of entrants at the start of the Championships.
12.2.18 The winners advancing to the provincial finals in will be liable for their own travel and accommodation expenses, offset by an allowance from the zone.
12.2.19 Each team shall select a Certified Level I coach from those that have applied to coach at the provincial finals.
12.2.20 The winning teams advancing to the national finals in Winnipeg will be required to pay a provincial travel assessment of $100.

13.2 2002-08-18 - An information sheet shall be supplied to all bowling centers following the first fall meeting. This sheet will include the following information: general championship information, entry fees for the Zone Championship, criteria to advance to the Alberta Championship, amount of travel assistance provided to each Alberta championship participant from Central Zone.
13.3 94-09-18 - The CA5 Sun Bowl Championship shall be held in a bowling center with eight (8) or more lanes and less than twelve (12) lanes. A bowling centre with fewer than eight (8) lanes may host the CA5 Sun Bowl Championship provided the Championship can be held with no more than six (6) shifts.
13.4 98/06/07 - The bowling center hosting rotation for the CA5 Sun Bowl Championship shall be:
13.4.1 1998/99 – Leisure Lanes, Ponoka
13.4.2 1999/00 – Western Lanes, Wetaskiwin
13.4.3 2000/01 – Rocky Lanes, Rocky Mountain House
13.5 93/02/21 - The CA5 Sun Bowl Championship shall consist of a five (5) game, pins over average competition.

14.1 The following rules shall apply if the A5 holds an Alberta Championship for this event. Please consult the A5 tournament format for eligibility requirements. This is a PINS-OVER-AVERAGE event.
14.2 Modified 5.01 An information sheet shall be supplied to all bowling centers following the first fall meeting. This sheet will include the following information: general championship information, entry fees for the Zone Championship, criteria to advance to the Alberta Championship, amount of travel assistance provided to each Alberta championship participant from Central Zone.
14.3 A CA5 entry fee shall be paid by each entrant at the bowling center round.
14.4 All participating bowling centers shall run a four (4) game, bowling center round. The complete results of all bowling center rounds shall be forwarded to the Championship manager by the deadline date.
14.5 00/09/10 – There will be no actual Central Zone round, however, the Provincial Championship qualifiers will be determined as follows:
14.5.1 If the number of bowling centers participating is less than, or equal to, the number of teams allowed to advance to the Provincial Championships, the bowling centre champions shall automatically advance to the Provincial Championships. Any unfilled Provincial Championship qualifier positions will be filled by pooling the remaining results and selecting the remaining Provincial Championship qualifiers based upon the next highest pins-over-average team score.
14.5.2 If there are more bowling centers participating than the number of teams allowed to advance to the Provincial Championships, then ALL team scores, from all participating bowling centers, shall be pooled, and the teams with the highest pins-over-average scores shall advance to the Provincial Championships.
