This tournament pairs league bowlers based on average to compete in a house, zone and provincial competition which offers cash prizes.

All league bowlers will have a good time at this event, making new friends in a fun tournament.

 

Please be aware and honour the DRESS CODE to avoid having to change or face disqualification from competing.  At the provincial level you may also be assessed a $100 fine for inappropriate clothing.

Tournament Rules and Regulations

1)             Note: The Provincial Finals are for cash prizes. 

2)             Consult the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association High-Low Doubles information sheets for eligibility requirements and tournament format for the league.

3)             Entry is open to any person who:

a)      Is 19 years of age as of December 31st.

b)      Is a member of the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association

c)      Resides within the Central Zone of the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association. 

d)      Proof of age, residency and membership is required at the Alberta Championships.

4)             A bowler may enter on more than one doubles team, but may only advance to the Zone Championships on only one team. 

5)             Zone finals (4 games) will take place as follows,

a)      South including Stettler at Drumheller (Sandstone) Sunday, January 17th at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m.

b)      North (north of Highway 12 excluding Stettler) in Ponoka Sunday, January 17th at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.

6)             Entry into the tournament is $3.00 per person for all 5 pin card holders (at either the league or house round).

7)             The average date for the zone finals shall be December 31st  with a minimum of twelve (12) games bowled.

8)             All results, from your bowling centre round, shall be compiled and forwarded to the High-Low Doubles chairperson, to arrive by Monday, January 4th.

9)             Zone finalists will comprise the top team from each bowling centre, then the teams most over average from the remainder of the entrants to fill the available shifts as determined by the zone chairperson.

10)         The top six (6) teams in each zone section will advance to the provincial finals in Lloydminster April 24th.

11)         If a team member declines to advance to the zone round or Alberta Championships, an alternate shall be allowed, providing that, the alternate comes from the same centre and is in the same high-low average class as the person who withdrew.  Once a bowler declines to advance to the zone or Alberta Championships, under no circumstances may that bowler re-enter the event for that year.

12)         Zone finalists will pay $50.00 per team which includes lineage and $10.00 per team as assessed by the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers' Association.

13)         Dress code for the zone finals is “neat and tidy” at the discretion of the tournament committee.  Persons violating the dress code will be asked to change or withdraw.  Failure to comply may result in suspension from the tournament and the Association.

14)         The winners advancing to the provincial finals in will be liable for their own travel and accommodation expenses, offset by a $60 allowance per person from the zone, payable upon submission of receipts to the treasurer.

15)         The Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers’ Association Dress Code will apply at the Alberta Championships.  It states that each entrant may wear

a)      a loaned zone shirt (to be returned after the tournament)

b)      slacks or skirt; with straight, hemmed bottom and solid colour, no fluorescent colours, denim, track or sweat pants

c)      No hats or caps (exceptions for medical or religious reasons)

d)     Flagrant disregard for the Dress Code shall result in the entrant being asked to adhere to the Dress Code or pay a $100 fine to bowl in the disallowed clothing.
